Child friendly airport lounges

As someone who loves travel, and now has a 2 year old, I am taking a lot more notice of child friendly airport lounges and travel offerings. Following on from my article on the different child meals (kids meals) that my little one has experienced on planes, I thought it was time to start an article on child friendly airport lounges. This is to help people travelling with children to understand what is available so there aren’t any surprises and help to ensure a smooth travel experience for everyone.

So now my little one is running around, and keeping him entertained for hours at an airport is more challenging, I am visiting the child friendly airport lounge sections more. I will update this article each time we come across a new lounge with child friendly areas or activities.

Joey Club – Qantas Club Melbourne Airport (domestic)

At the back of the Qantas Club Melbourne Airport (domestic) is a child friendly lounge section – the Joey Club. This area had a TV showing cartoons, books, and toys. There was a fridge with a selection of juices and a bowl of fruit. I loved seeing the bowl of fruit (apples) but it would be better to have some more child friendly fruit e.g. having a way of cutting the apples, or adding in bananas etc. While apples are a great start, not all young children can eat whole apples. It would also be great to see water and plain milk as a option for a drink for kids in the little fridge.
