New Qantas Lounge salad alert! π₯ I am such a salad and vegetable nerd aren't I ππππ
So this one was I came across in the @qantas Sydney Domestic Business Lounge - it is described on the menu as Cous Cous and Roasted Vegetable Salad.
But where are the vegetables??? π§π§π§ As I investigated further I did see there was some roasted eggplant/onion and also a tiny piece of capsicum. But as you can see most of it is cous cous and garnishes.
Qantas you are on the right track π Great to see during the upside down world of Covid you are still serving salads - but please can you tweak this recipe to include larger number of vegetables and less cous cous? It was quite dry with all that cous cous.
What did I do? I got 2 vegetable crudite plates to get my vegetables in (I dont care what the lounge staff thought as my table was piled with plates - it is important to get your vegetables in π₯¦π«π

Now you all know I have a love/hate relationship with the famous @qantas toasties! Back in pre-covid flying era, the line-up for the toastie press was a common site in both domestic Qantas Clubs and Qantas Business Class Lounges.
Now the simple ham and cheese toastie (which was the most popular type of toastie people made - well some would also add tomato), was always my nemesis in the lounge. Too big for a snack and not very nutritious for a meal, however I did still appreciate it had its place sometimes. Not to mention there is just something about a cheese toastie/grilled cheese - mmmmm very delicious!
But here I am and how excited did I look when the Qantas Business Class lounge staff came around offering toasties - it gave me a glimpse of my pre-covid travel life and somehow made the lounge a little more normal. So I said yes, ate my toastie mindfully and just enjoyed it! Who knows when I will be getting another one while watching planes taxiing along the runway. (I am currently back in another Stage 4 lockdown here in Victoria in Australia).

Beef casserole in @qantas business class from Alice Springs to Darwin on my flight in January 2021! Well I call it a casserole as I can't remember the actual name of it.
Verdict... it was okay. Not amazing but not too bad.
Now the salad was not meant to be there - I asked if there was a salad (after the whole side of pie debacle - see previous post) and so during this meal he had rustled up a salad for me. Now that is the fabulous Qantas service I remember from a years ago but now slightly lacking. π₯π₯π₯π₯
I hope Qantas brings the side salad back in business class - a couple of carrots is not enough vegetables for a main meal!
What do you think of the offering for a 2 hour flight?

And here is an example of a vegetable plate offered by @qantas in their lounges currently (this one is in the Qantas Business Class Lounge in Sydney domestic airport. As I said in my last post, always grab one of these (or equivalent in other lounges) no matter what you are eating. It will give you an extra serve of vegetables in your day π₯π«π₯π
