Our Dietitian

My Name Is Melissa Adamski

(BSc MND APD PhD candidate)
I Am Your Expert In Traveling, Food, Nutrition And Health. Your Travel Dietitian And Nutritionist.

Here is a bit about me!

What Am I And Where Have I Studied?

I am an Accredited Practising Dietitian (that is Australia’s version of a Registered Dietitian) and Nutritionist. I hold a Bachelor of Science (Food Science and Nutrition) from the University of New South Wales, a Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney, and am currently a PhD candidate (means I am studying a PhD) at Monash University.

My Nutrition Experience?

I have 10+ years experience working as a corporate dietitian – what is that I hear you ask? Basically I work with any business (not just food businesses) to provide expert food, nutrition and health advice. I get the right information to people within businesses so they can make decisions based on expert and evidenced based information. I have worked across a range of industries – from biotechnology, health insurance, health and food companies, education, and communications.

What Do I Currently Do?
I currently have a number of roles which provide me excellent breadth of skills and experience. I work at Monash University in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food (Monash Nutrition) as a dietitian, managing their online nutrition courses for the public and healthcare professionals, and am also involved in research. I am also a co-founder and Lead Dietitian of a start-up, Tolerate, which is developing an app to provide people with food allergies, intolerances and dietary lifestyle choices more transparency and knowledge about what is in their meals when eating out. And I have owned Nutted Out Nutrition for over 10 years, providing nutrition advice to patients and businesses. Which brings me to my new travel nutrition services…
Why Travel Nutrition?

In 2019 I decided to take Nutted Out Nutrition in a new direction. One day while sitting on a plane, complaining to my aviation obsessed husband (both as a hobby and having worked for an airline) about the lack of vegetables (again!!) in my meal (and generally on my whole trip) I decided to do something about it. Nutted Out Nutrition now has an emphasis on providing travel food and nutrition advice, alongside  corporate nutrition services and patient appointments.

Having traveled a lot for both work and fun, and for the last 10 years having absorbed all the tips and information my husband regularly bestows on me (whether I want it or not… yes I am looking at you 737 because I can tell you are a 737 by the shape of your engines, visibility of your landing gear while in flight and shape or your tail!!!!!!), I know a lot about planes and travelling.

I am a platinum frequent flyer (Oneworld Emerald) with Qantas and have been a tiered frequent flyer for many years. I understand a lot about the world of a frequent flyer, and professionally and personally understand the many challenges this can bring to healt.

I am passionate in supporting frequent flyers and people who travel for work often to be at their best – and this includes optimising nutrition and food intake no matter whether you are 37000 feet in the air, checking in at the priority line at your hotel or rental car place, or trying to combat jet lag in the office back home.

While good nutrition is important (essential in fact) for health, so is enjoying your food. So don’t think I am all about restriction and dieting – quite the opposite in fact – I never cut out any food group or food (unless there is a medical reason) and wont advise you too either. I encourage a healthy relationship with food and will help you discover how you can enjoy the foods you like, while also reaching your health goals.

You can learn more about me and my food choices (especially while travelling) on Instagram and Tik Tok, and learn more about nutrition and food through my Facebook and Twitter.

I hope you come and join me in my travels and pick up some advice and tips on how you can eat well while travelling!

And if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me
