In recent years, there has been an increased concern about the declining health of our workers. Results released from the Victorian Government WorkHealth check on 200 000 employees in November 2010 show some disturbing statistics about the health of Victorian employees¹:
These results can be considered as a snap shot of the health of our Victorians in the work place, and reflect that this demographic is a high risk group for developing one or more chronic diseases. According to a study from the AIHW, chronic diseases cost the Australian workforce 584 000 days of absenteeism each year. For your company, this means reduced productivity, efficiency and income.

🍳🍳🍳 These were some of the nicer scrambled eggs I have had in an airline lounge - thanks @qantas Adelaide Club. Back in January these were welcome after some really watery ones in the Melbourne lounge.
I always look at the colour and consistency of scrambled eggs in airport lounges before eating them. They can vary so much in quality!

🚨 New Airport Lounge Review: @qantas Sydney Business Class Lounge (Domestic) during what im calling the Covid period. This is so you can see what offers are like in the lounge now so if you are getting back to travelling you know what to expect.
So what did I rate it in my Food and Nutrition Review?
6/10 - so 🥦🥦🥦🥦🥦🥦

Here is a @qantas pie served in business class on Easter Sunday - beef pie with caramelised onion sauce 🥧🥧🥧
No salad offered with it, but there was the offer of a slice of bread which I declined 👉 travel nutrition tip: you don't need a slice of bread and a pie for a 4pm flight. Infact even this pie is a large for 'afternoon tea. Hint: I only ate a few mouthfuls to try it out.
So what was it like? Very disappointing. This was a full sized pie and I could only see 3 smallish pieces of beef. There was chopped carrot in the pie as well which was good to see, but not enough to be in place of a side salad.
Ok so tell me, after @virginaustralia just launched their new business class menu which includes a lamb pie, what are your thoughts of this Qantas Business Class offering?

I seem to post lots about vegetables don't I 🤔😅 It probably looks like I only eat salads when travelling and for some of you it might not seem that appealing.
Well I just wanted to let you know that this is not always the case. Yes, I gravitate towards salads and dishes wuth lots of vegetables but that is because we are recommended to have 5 serves of vegetables each day and that includes on days when travelling too. So I try to get my 5 serves in each day - even when I'm eating out which means I do try and make sure I have as many vegetables as I can 🍆🫑🥦🍅🥬🌽
BUT... food isn't just about nutrients. There are many other reasons to eat including appetite and enjoyment. I try not to eat if I am full (and not hungry), and I also try not to eat foods I don't like (which is why I comment on food quality often). These two factors are important to consider when food is plentiful and free - which is usually the case in airport lounges and on planes.
So next time you are thinking about what to chose off the in-flight menu or in the airport lounge - consider what is nutritious, what you like, and are you even hungry.
That is what I try and do 😊
