Fiji Airways business class breakfast – the make or break for me on a early morning flight. I’ve had great Fiji Airways food experiences on previous flights and so when I was flying home from Fiji on an early morning flight I was curious what their new Pacific Rim menu experience would be like for breakfast. I absolutely loved the Pacific Rim menu from Melbourne to Nadi and so now it was time to check breakfast. Would it be as nice? I am never a fan of breakfast onboard as many airlines and caterers get it so wrong. So was Fiji Airways Business Class breakfast going to break the trend and give me back hope that breakfasts can be nice onboard?
Fiji Airways business class breakfast menu Nadi to Melbourne
This was a five hour flight to Fiji and they were serving lunch.

Main Meal Service
There was a choice of both starter and main with an avocado smoothie served with the meal. While I love avocadoes (both for their taste and nutrition), I didn’t really love this smoothie. It was really creamy and not sweet and I think many people would have liked it. But I love avocado as guacamole and smashed on toast – for some reason it just didn’t gel with me as a smoothie. The bakery items were served warm and stayed fairly warm which was nice. The butter was soft and not cold and hard like so many butters onboard are served.
I chose the coconut quinoa as a starter which was nice. The quinoa had a slight coconut taste and coconut served on top. The mango and goji berries added really nice flavours. For the main I chose the smashed avocado and poached eggs – how could I not as avocado and eggs are one of my favourite breakfasts. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. I actually couldn’t believe it. After so many overcooked eggs onboard I was pleasantly surprised. The bread was awful though as it was very cake like and most of it had turned really soggy (almost like a mush). Sundried tomatoes had a lovely flavour, while the avcado had a bit of a khaki green colour which made me wonder about it.

Nutrition comment
There is a lot to love about the Fiji Airways business class breakfast menu from a nutrition perspective. I loved the avocado smoothie concept – avocadoes are very nutritious as they are full of monounsaturated fats and have folate, lutein, vitamin K and fibre among other nutrients. The quinoa dish was a good balance between quinoa and fruit. Quinoa is considered a pseudo-grain and has a decent protein and fibre content. The combination of poached eggs and avocado and one small slice of toast was a well balanced meal for passengers. Eggs are a great nutrient bundle.
Final word Fiji Airways Business Class Food Nadi to Melbourne for Breakfast
Overall I enjoyed my Fiji Airways business class breakfast. It was a huge improvement on some other breakfasts I have been served onboard. As the main meal service on this flight I was concerned it was going to be a mediocre English breakfast style meal and so I was really delighted to see more innovative breakfast dishes on the menu with some nutritious attributes. I felt like I was getting full business class experience even though it was breakfast. Next time I am flying Fiji Airways I won’t be dreading the early morning flights so much.
NOTE: All pictures of Fiji Airways Business Class breakfast food are my own and I review the food from the menu I was given and the food I ordered on my flight. There may be different options available at other times.
