I was excited to experience The Pier First Lounge food again having finally made it back to The Pier First Lounge in Hong Kong. And it was just as amazing as I remember it from back in 2019. I was supposed to visit a few times over the last few years but with some flight changes and gate departure number changes I hadn’t actually visited for a while. So on my last trip heading back from UK to Australia it was the perfect time in the evening to relax and experience The Pier First Lounge food. I tried foods from both The Dining Room and The Pantry and the experience did not disappoint.

What’s nutritious in The Pier First Lounge?
The Dining Room menu had a delicious and nutritious Vietnamese salad. It was a perfect salad for my long journey from Europe to Australia as it was light, fresh and tasty. One of the best salads in a lounge I have had. The salad had a light peanut flavour which seemed to come from chopped peanuts and it had a light dressing. The salad was well balanced between chicken and salad vegetables.
The salad jars in The Pantry were a great idea for a nutrient boost to snacks or light meals in The Pier First. I chose to try the salsa while relaxing in a lovely lounge chair. The salsa was really flavoursome and a light snack before a flight.
A range of nutritious wholefood snacks in The Pantry with fresh fruit, bread, cheese, dried fruit were available. There were also bite-sized crostinis and foccacia pieces with toppings – feta and olive crostinis and crabmeat foccacia. There was gluten free bread and crackers available.

Not so great. Caution.
The Dan Dan noodles from The Dining room on Signature Noodles menu were a standout – absolutely delicious. A standout of The Pier First Lounge food experience! The thick peanut sauce was divine. However the dish was just noodles and sauce which while delicious was not the best meal to have just before a long 10 hour flight home as it was a bit oily and predominantly carbohydrates. If you enjoy having this dish (I mean how could you not!) then create a balanced meal by complementing the dish with a salad and higher protein dish from the menu such as the Vietnamese salad, the Gado Gado salad or the halibut.
There were also slices of quiche Lorraine and while eggs are extremely nutritious and a good source of protein for travelling, be mindful some quiches can be high in energy due to the pastry, cream and cheese. Be mindful of this when travelling (especially for long periods of time) and eating other foods within the lounge.

There were cold cuts available including Italian turkey breast and Finocchiona salami. Processed meats like this

Final word Cathay Pacific The Pier First Lounge Food Hong Kong
The Pier First Lounge food in was delicious and the lounge as a whole was a really premium experience. The lounge had a great variety of food conducive to travel wellbeing and the ability to visit The Dining Room or The Pantry depending on appetite and time available in the lounge. The availability of fresh, nutritious light bites of food, along with a premium A la carte dining experience (with nutritious meals) was welcome as I was in the middle of a 24hr + journey from London. Overall there was a nice balance between nutritious and more decadent foods.
NOTE: All pictures of the The Pier First Lounge food are my own and I review a lounge from just the foods I see during my visit. There may be different options available at other times.
