Launching new Plane Food Reviews – with a nutrition twist!

I am so excited to announce the expansion of my travel nutrition and food business with the launch of my new plane food reviews!

This is the second phase of my travel nutrition and food reviews and it is great to be able to offer these reviews after the covid bump to my services. The first phase was the launch of my food reviews of airline lounges (also with a nutrition twist) in 2019 and I love seeing the popularity of these growing as we get back to travel.

With the plane food reviews I will be reviewing the inflight catering on flights around the world, and rating them based on their food options. But I won’t just be looking at them from a food quality angle, but also from a nutrition and dietary perspective. From this I hope you will be able to make decisions on which airlines you fly, or at least which types of foods to choose when you fly.

How do I conduct a plane food review?

To conduct a food and nutrition review of the food served on a plane, I have developed a nutrition assessment criteria that I can apply to any flight and provides score out of 10. I use this, along with other observations of the food to provide an overview of both the food quality and how the foods fit into healthy dietary patterns. The criteria allow me objectively review the food, regardless of whether I actually like the food or not and have been developed to be able to be used without having access to any ingredients or nutrition information about the food. I consider the type of foods that are available and what that means in terms of nutrition and health. I take into account factors such as vegetables, refined carbohydrates, fibre and wholegrains, food variety, protein sources, processed foods etc.

What about other reviews?

Great questions and there are some fabulous reviews of flights, which include a look at foods served, e.g. Inflight Feed, Flight Hacks, and Trek Trendy, and my plane food reviews are in no way trying to replace them. However these reviews don’t necessarily focus specifically on food, nor are conducted by a qualified dietitian like myself.

So you can use my food plane food reviews in conjunction with your favourite flight reviews and I hope they just add more information for you.

Don’t forget if you want more travel nutrition tips then follow me on Instagram.

And if there are specific flights where you would like me to review the food then just let me know.
