Flying from Helsinki to London on an early morning flight saw me very tired and exhausted. I had just flown in from Australia on my way to London via Singapore and I was on the last leg of my flight. I was tired and not in the mood for crappy food. The Finnair Business Class breakfast meals have left a lot to be desired over the years since they changed their business class offering of no choice of breakfast. And so I was skeptical, especially since the breakfast I had been served about 4-5hours before hand as I had landed into Helsinki was a disappointing soggy quiche. Was Finnair business class food Helsinki to London going to be any better?
Main Meal Service
A standard Finnair business class breakfast was served with a bowl of fruit, side of continental cold cuts and cheese, and a hot dish. Funnily enough the hot dish on this flight was bigger than the one served on the long-haul flights I have been on to Asia. This hot dish was not too bad – better than I have had before. The creamed spinach under the egg added a lovely flavour to the dish, the bacon was cooked well for a flight (not dry, slightly crispy) and the broccoli wasn’t too overcooked. I didn’t like the texture of the egg – was it a souffle perhaps? The texture was incredibly soft and mushy (and a bit fluffy?) and on the top was what I thought looked like egg yolk but I think was cheese.
The cold cuts side had two slices which I am not too sure what they were – one was white (perhaps turkey) and one looked like a type of salami. It had cream cheese , sliced cheese and piece of lettuce and 1 tomato. Oh I wish there was at least another tomato or a couple slices of cucumber.

Nutrition comment
Amazing to have broccoli with breakfast. Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable – a fabulous nutrient powerhouse with vitamin C, K, carotenoids, folate and more. While there was a creamy sauce with the spinach it was a small amount compared to to whole dish but was enough to give flavour without a lot of calories. Including lettuce and tomato with the small continental side dish is important as it adds vitamins and other nutrients to the cheese and cold cuts with the bread roll. However of course I would have liked to see an extra slice of lettuce and tomato – the portion size currently is quite small.
Final work on Finnair Business Class Food Helsinki to London
This Finnair business class breakfast Helsinki to London was an improvement on some of the breakfasts I have had on their long-haul flights. The hot meal was fairly nice even though the soft, mushy egg wasn’t to my liking I can imagine others may have enjoyed the dish. The hot breakfast dish was much nicer (and larger) than the breakfasts I have had on their long-haul flights which was a surprise. It was an enjoyable breakfast food experience in short-haul business.
