Fiji Airways Business Class Food Review – Melbourne to Nadi, Fiji

After enjoying the Fiji Airways Business Class food on my trip to Fiji back in 2022, I was happy to fly them again when I headed on my trips to Fiji in May and October 2025. After experiencing some average business class food experiences on short haul international flights from Australia in the past, it was refreshing to be on an A350 and having it feel like a business class experience. For the October 2025 flight they were serving their new Pacific Rim menu and so in this review you can see the differences between the previous meals and the new meals. I loved the new menu – an improvement in taste and nutrition which was fabulous. However the service was painfully slow and it took nearly the whole flight for the main meal service to be served (the way back was better which I will write about in a separate review).

This was a four hour flight to Fiji and they were serving lunch.

Main meal service

There was a pre-dining service offered after take off with drinks and with a snack served. The snack was a cheese flavoured biscuit snack in May 2025 and a tropical style fruit and nut mix (with nuts, papaya and coconut) in October 2025.

The starter of smoked salmon was absolutely delicious. It came with grapefruit, cucumber and a lemon mayonnaise. The Fiji curry was fragrant yet unfortunately spicy. As many of you know I don’t like spicy food yet I love fragrant spices. I have had a number of curries in Fiji that do not come with heat and so I was a little disappointed this one did but I do note many people do love hot food. It was delicious despite the heat. The sweet potato and spinach was nice, yet I would have loved another spoonful of spinach!

The meals in May 2025 came with a side salad and bread however I didn’t experience the bread with my meal as turbulence hit and the meal service had to be paused. By the time they came around with bread I was long finished my meal and didn’t feel like it anymore. I chose the Chicken Provencale which was a fairly satisfying dish. The sauce was flavoursome and the chicken was moist and plentiful. The potato galettes tasted ok but were a bit stodgy – they had a sort of sticky texture when eating them. I was disappointed the sweet corn mentioned on the menu was only a tiny sprinkle on top of the galettes. The cous cous salad sounded great on the menu however I found it lackluster. It was mostly cous cous, with only few and small pieces of vegetables (which didn’t impart much flavour). The types of vegetables in the cous cous were also a but random I thought – corn, eggplant, carrot, cucumber and iceberg lettuce. In fact the cous cous salad lacked any flavour at all. It really needed the balsamic vinegar served on the side to make it palatable which was unfortunate as I don’t really like balsamic much. I also found the bowl quite large for the amount of cous cous served – it made the salad look quite small.

My partner chose the Walu (fish) and prawns with sweet potato, spinach and coconut cream which he really enjoyed.

After the main meal was cleared away dessert was served. I chose the Fijian Purini which was described as their signature dessert – it was delicious.

Nutrition comment

The meals were balanced in terms of protein and carbohydrates, however the vegetables were lacking in the meals served in May 2025. While the menu described a variety of vegetables within the dishes, unfortunately what was in the dishes experienced was more like garnishes of vegetables. The meals served in October 2025 had more vegetables which I loved but it will be good to fly them again and check out the other dishes to see whether this is across all options. But I love the ‘glow up’ in the menu – the Pacific Rim menu.

Snacks

There were three types of snacks in May 2025 available after the main meal service which the cabin crew brought around in a basket; crisps (chips) with seat salt, Grain Waves (sour cream) and little packets of M&Ms. The snack basket was also available in the galley. I didn’t get a chance to get snacks on the flight in October 2025 due mainly to the slow service (by the time my cheese plate was cleared it was only about an hour till landing).

Nutrition comment

The snacks were all prepackaged and fairly processed. It would have been good to have some fresh fruit or cheese available as snack options too.

Final comment Fiji Airways Business Class food

I really enjoyed my second flight in Fiji Airways business class. It was a solid business class food experience – even if not the ‘fanciest’. The flavour and food quality was notable – a really delicious meal. The Fijian flavours made for an interesting menu. There were some nutritious elements to the meal however it could have been improved. The kids meal balanced foods and flavours kids are likely to enjoy, and was inline with a business class food experience for them, and also had some nutritious elements to it. Following on from this experience I would be interested to explore their longer haul product from Fiji to the USA.
