The Cathay Pacific Lounge Haneda had just reopened when I first tried it when flying out of Tokyo in January 2023 and so I visited again in May 2024 to see whether any changes had been made. The Cathay Pacific lounge is a few levels above the JAL Sakura Lounge (the business lounge) and a few levels higher than the First lounge (but not directly above) – and wow – the view! The lounge is on a corner and so the views of the airport and Tokyo are spectacular.

In 2023 I arrived at the lounge half and hour before it closed and so I ordered my meal from a staff member who was standing in the noodle bar area and was given a buzzer. The menu was displayed on the bar and I did not see any QR codes on the table I was sitting at in the lounge area. The two menu items that are behind the glare from the window (on the menu below) are Shrimp Macaroni Gratin and Hot and Sour Noodle Soup.

What’s Healthy?
In 2023 the Cathay Pacific website stated there was a food bar that has salads and sandwiches, which as I I didn’t see during the 2023 visit. However when I visited in 2024 there was a buffet in full swing to complement the A La Carte menu. It was great to see an opportunity for passengers to have salads and vegetables along with their noodle dishes as fruits/vegetables are essential to eat while travelling to ensure intake of vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds such as antioxidants.
The foods on the buffet at the Cathay Pacific Lounge Haneda were plated in individual portions which assists in promoting portion control and mindful eating which is really important when having access to a buffet. There were salads, smoked salmon, fruit salad, cheeses, steamed edamame, and marinated vegetables.

Not so great. Caution.
- The Noodle Bar menu was rice and noodle heavy with most dishes based on low fibre carbohydrates, small amounts of meat and not many (if any vegetables). There were no vegetable or salad dishes available on the noodle bar menu which was disappointing. Some of the noodle dishes do contain vegetables however the amounts are traditionally small.
- The Japanese Curry was predominantly rice and sauce with only two small pieces of beef. This means the dish is mostly white rice and quickly digestible carbohydrates. Similarly the pork bao bun was predominantly white bun with only a very small amount of sweet sauce in the middle. This sauce had a small amount of pork.

- There were some foods on the buffet that to mindful of not having too much of including the cold cuts and the quiche. While quiche can be nutritious this quiche was quite skinny so there wasn’t a lot of egg and vegetable filling and so quite a bit of pastry. The good thing is they were cut into bite sized pieces so having 1-2 is ok but just be mindful if choosing to have more.

Last word from travel food and nutrition review Cathay Pacific Lounge Haneda Tokyo
Gorgeous view and great service at the Cathay Pacific Lounge Haneda Tokyo – I really liked the feel of this lounge. But the Noodle Bar menu I did find was a bit carbohydrate heavy. The Food Bar buffet helped to lighten up the food options by providing a variety bite-sized fruits, vegetables and protein.

Cathay Pacific The Wing Business Hong Kong Food and Nutrition Review
Cathay Pacific’s The Wing Business Lounge in Hong Kong offers a mix of nutritious and indulgent options. Highlights include a diverse salad selection, freshly made noodle dishes, and snacks like nuts and cheese. There are also less healthy items, such as creamy and cheesy sandwiches. The lounge blends Western, Chinese, Indian, and Thai flavors, offering both a la carte and buffet serving styles.
