Cathay Pacific Lounge Haneda, Tokyo Food and Nutrition Review

The Cathay Pacific Lounge Haneda had just reopened when I flew out of Tokyo in January 2023 and so I popped out of the JAL First lounge to check it out. The Cathay Pacific lounge is a few levels above the JAL Sakura Lounge (the business lounge) and a few levels higher than the First lounge (but not directly above) – and wow – the view! The lounge is on a corner and so the views of the airport and Tokyo are spectacular.

I arrived at the lounge half and hour before it closed and so I ordered my meal from a staff member who was standing in the noodle bar area and was given a buzzer. The menu was displayed on the bar and I did not see any QR codes on the table I was sitting at in the lounge area. The two menu items that are behind the glare from the window (on the menu below) are Shrimp Macaroni Gratin and Hot and Sour Noodle Soup. The nutrition review of this lounge is only on the food at the Noodle Bar as I did not see the Food Bar (which I saw mentioned on their website when I was back in Australia) – perhaps this was because the lounge was just about to close?

What’s Healthy?

The Cathay Pacific website states there is a food bar that has salads and sandwiches, which as I mentioned I didn’t see. However it is good to see there is an opportunity to get salads at some point in the day in the lounge. Salads and vegetables are essential to eat while travelling to ensure intake of vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds such as antioxidants.

Not so great. Caution.

  • The Noodle Bar menu was rice and noodle heavy with most dishes based on low fibre carbohydrates, small amounts of meat and not many (if any vegetables).
  • There were no vegetable or salad dishes available on the noodle bar menu which was disappointing. Some of the noodle dishes do contain vegetables however the amounts are traditionally small.
  • The Japanese Curry was predominantly rice and sauce with only two small pieces of beef. This means the dish is mostly white rice and quickly digestible carbohydrates.
  • Similarly the pork bao bun was predominantly white bun with only a very small amount of sweet sauce in the middle. This sauce had a small amount of pork.

Last word from travel food and nutrition review Cathay Pacific Lounge, Haneda Tokyo

Gorgeous view and great service – I really liked the feel of this lounge. But the Noodle Bar menu I did find was a bit carbohydrate heavy. As mentioned I did not see the Food Bar that was mentioned on their website (even though I had walked the length of the lounge) where salads, sandwiches etc are said to be served. The staff also did not point it out to me. So either I had somehow missed it, it was already shut by the time I go there, or it is mentioned on the website but not actually there in the newly opened lounge? So please remember the nutrition review of the lounge is just on the Noodle Bar menu.

Cathay Pacific The Wing Business

Cathay Pacific The Wing Business Hong Kong Food and Nutrition Review

Cathay Pacific’s The Wing Business Lounge in Hong Kong offers a mix of nutritious and indulgent options. Highlights include a diverse salad selection, freshly made noodle dishes, and snacks like nuts and cheese. There are also less healthy items, such as creamy and cheesy sandwiches. The lounge blends Western, Chinese, Indian, and Thai flavors, offering both a la carte and buffet serving styles.
