Qantas Business Class Food Review – Brisbane to Melbourne

With Qantas announcing a much needed refresh to its domestic catering in October 2025, I was excited to fly with them in November 2025 – would I get the revamped catering on my flight? I explored the Qantas Business Class food Brisbane to Melbourne on a morning flight and to be honest I have no idea whether I experienced the new menu. I don’t know how long it took to roll out across the network but my food experience was not noticeably different to previous experiences and I was left disappointed. While acknowledging I flew domestically on a 2 hour flight, I was still hoping for a bit more wow.

Main meal service

No drinks were served prior to take off – alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Water bottle was given to the staff member sitting next to me though.

I chose what was described as the fried eggs, bacon and tomato. The tray came with a slice of bread and a Greek yogurt. The fried eggs were not good and I wasn’t even placing the bar very high. Eggs are hard to get right on a plane – not many airlines serve great eggs. But these eggs were some of the driest and tasteless eggs I have ever had. And describing them as fried and then having them turn up like this just added to the disappointment – there was none of that lovely fried egg taste when they are cooked like this. While I like an eye of bacon occasionally, this bacon was tough like rubber. The half a tomato was delicious. I didn’t try the mushrooms as I don’t like mushrooms so I can’t comment on them. The Greek yogurt was also delicious. I did not try the bread as the dried eggs and bacon made my mouth a bit dry and so the bread unappetising to me.

Nutrition comment

It was good to see only the eye of the bacon was served – it was quite lean. However bacon is still a processed meat. The yogurt, while delicious, was a source of added sugar with approx. 10g added sugar (two teaspoons) per 100g on top of the natural lactose present. Even though I personally don’t like mushrooms it was good to see half the hot dish was vegetables. Having vegetables for breakfast is a great way to get us on the path to the recommended serves of vegetables a day.

Final word Qantas Business Class Food Brisbane to Melbourne

Sigh… I really wanted to love the Qantas business class food Brisbane to Melbourne. But unfortunately I actually didn’t find myself surprised with the meal – the disappointment just felt expected unfortunately. I get some foods are hard to do in the air, but maybe then don’t serve them unless you know they are going to be good. Eggs are so nutritious and I love having them while travelling but this dish just didn’t do it for me. It was good to see the dish was fairly balanced with a decent portion of vegetables – this was a highlight of the meal. I hope this dish was just a misstep – looking forward to trying again.
